4 days to surgery and totally exhausted!

Recommended Posts

I have followed my pre-op diet........liquid. Oh joy and yum. NOT! For 2 weeks. <_< I mean how many ways can 1 person fix very diluted cream of chicken Soup that is different and enjoyable in 9 days? And have SF Jello to follow for the mid-day meal? Not to mention having 2 Protein Shakes during the day all within keeping under 700 cal. How on earth are you supposed to keep your energy up and exercise for 30 min on this kind of diet? I am so totally exhausted all I want to do is sleep sleep sleep. :68_sleeping: Any one else with this prob?

It's for your breathing and circulation I think. Do what you can though. I am first day pre-op today and not even hungry, had Bone Broth and hot tea so far. I need to do a shake here soon though, it's 2pm.

Put some spices in your Soup - touch of cayenne, or basil and onion powder. Dilute it with vegetable broth.

Good luck.

Try having Fibro, Chronic pain and Chronic fatigue along with a very low thyroid going through this. No amount of spice (which I use quite well as a "naturalist" and Native American) is going to help right now! hahaha but thanks for the thought.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
