Getting Sleeved 11/14/17

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone [emoji112]

I started my process for the sleeve in March of 2017. There were a few bumps in the road with scheduling my nutritionist visit and vacation. Then I continued to gain weight. Every visit I went to I was up. I gained a total of 12lbs to be exact. I was eating well, working out, drinking Water and tracking it all. I knew for sure that my body was just being resistant and will catch up. On my last visit I was still up. I had a complete meltdown right in the office. I usually wait until I am alone. The disappointment was too real. I couldn't hide it. Even my nutritionist saw how hard i was trying. She cried with me. They made note of everything from start to finish and submitted it to the insurance company. 1 week later i got a call and they approved me [emoji120] . I am so thrilled and beyond grateful. I'm looking forward to being the best me possible.

Hello, surgery went well. Done in 45min however, recovery the first 24hrs was tough with the vomiting, pain and being super cold. Nonetheless, I made it through. Stayed 2 nights at the hospital. Came home pain free. Everything is going down smoothly, Thank God! Went to the bathroom the following day. I'm really on the up and up.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
