UPDATE: So I'm 3 weeks post op I'm on my second stage which is textured and soft foods. I basically have been eating normal but healthy of coarse. So salads, Greek yogurt, grilled chicken and sometimes nuts. I've even tried the kind Protein Bars. I'm doing great the trick is to eat slow and I'm doing ok with that. I'm still doing 1 Protein Shake a day and that's ok too I'm learning to add bananas and Peanut Butter Protein to make them taste different I've even tried mango from the Bariatric pal website. So far I've lost 22 lbs total I started at 306 and I'm now 284 as of tonight. I feel like I need to start incorporating some cardio and weights into my routine. I can feel my skin getting softer and more grab-able. It's scaring me. I'm excited to see what the next couple of weeks has to offer

Okay this is good to hear because I was getting worried because I am almost 3 weeks post op and I felt like the little bit of weight I have lost, which is about the same as you, was not enough.

Doctor told me slow weight loss is good! So don't worry

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
