Tomorrow at 8:30 am, PST, I'm having my sleeve surgery. It's nearly been a year to the date since I had my first meeting with my surgeon and it's been a rollercoaster ride getting here. While I am nervous, I'm a hard stick, I will be fine as soon as they get my IV line in. Pray that all goes well and that the surgeons hands are steady, that there isn't any scar tissue to have to cut through this time, that all goes well without complications, and that I make a swift and complete recovery.

Good luck my friend. Will pray for you.
Ironically, I was also very stressed about the IV.
Once it was in, I felt better but was still nervous.
I told the anesthesiologist I was scared and he gave me something to relax.
Then they put the mask on, I prayed and prayed until I was under.
Glad it's over.

I'm a bit anxious tonight, but know that I'll be okay. Thanks for the kind words and thoughts. I can't wait until it's over and I'm in recovery!

Good for you, You will do fine. I had my surgery last week and already feel great!!! I found the key after surgery was to walk and to keep walking. Keep fighting for your life and I wish you the best.

I feel horrible today and the pain from the air they pump in to your stomach is causing it. It's so terrible. I really want to cry.

Thanks, Jeff. I feel anything but great right now. I'm so sore and the gas pain is killing me.

It will pass.
Make sure to get up and move.
Bloodclots in the legs are serious and dangerous.
You will be feeling better by 72 hours post surgery.
I put my personal guarantee on it.

I've been walking a lot more today, even if I do feel much worse today. I know that this is temporary, but it's still tough to get through regardless.

I've been keeping myself moving every few hours to ensure that I hopefully won't develop any. That's second biggest fear, first being leakage, but I'm doing everything by the book to hedge my bets against any complications. Overall today, I was in more pain from my incisions, but am feeling a bit better this evening. I know that this will pass swiftly, but it feels like an eternity when you're the one that's going through it.

Thanks for the advice!

Thanks so much. I am so glad to be on the other side of surgery. It's been a rough couple of days, but things should only look up from here on out.

I found walking is key to recovery from the surgery. Don't be afraid of a leak that will consume your recovery, have faith in your Surgeon. Follow the post diet, listen to your body you will know when to move to the next phase. I had to make a checklist for meal time to remind me of the rules like no straws. Also, the list will help you avoid autopilot mistakes like I did. I was making a zucchini Soup and poped a couple of cubed zucchini in my mouth two weeks out from surgery and ate them.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
