Eating is a chore

Recommended Posts

I understand your pain. It was like that in the beginning for me too. I'm just on the "soft food stage" and life has gotten so much better. Couple more weeks then I can finally eat normal foods.. i.e. chicken, beef etc.

Good luck [emoji4]

One more week to cottage cheese, eggs and purees!! Counting down!

Nice! I didn’t get purées til week 5! It was a long long 5 weeks. Now I’m just waiting on week 9 to get here to begin solid foods!

I honestly feel so sorry for you guys who have to be on liquids and puree for weeks and weeks. My program had me on solids by day 4 (chew chew chew until puree) and it was such a blessing. A meal was half to one babybell, but it was amazing.

Some surgeons feel like it takes a few weeks for the new stomach to heal and the extra time with simple foods allows for better healing and less chance of complications.

Which procedure did you have? I had a SIPS. No way my stomach could have processed solid food by day 4!

I like refried Beans with a little plain Greek yogurt.

No beans on a liquid diet.< br>

I am 2 weeks and a few days out, I'm on pureed finally but truly now that I can, I don't want food.

I've got one more week to purees...but I understand what you mean about not wanting it. I have never, in my life, had so little interest in food. I have always been the kind of person who could eat through anything...I never lost my appetite....but these last two weeks, I'm never hungry

It truly is a chore. On top of not being hungry, I'm paranoid about what too eat, and how I could hurt myself. Like even a twinge scares me.

Yes, this is true...but try making popsicles out of Premier Protein. I love making bomb pops with 1/2 bananas and cream and 1/2 chocolate. That way, you change up the texture, you change up the delivery system. And, you can make them the size that is perfect for you. Need a 2oz pop? No prob. Can handle a 3oz pop--cool! Also make Protein popsicles out of Clear Protein Shakes. I love the frozen grapefruit and also lemon tea and fuzzy navel from Syntrax Nectar.

Fluffy...I love that idea. I used to love bomb pops growing up. Fudge and banana were my favorite. I will definitely give this a try.

Thanks!

Oh man, me2!!! Let me know how you like them! I think Premier Protein or The World According to Eggface actually has a recipe for them. I just poured the drink in the molds and they worked well enough...you know?

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
