Has anyone experienced dizziness after surgery? I’m 8months post op and have noticed that when I stand from a seated position my head spins for a while and it’s been happening since a little while after my surgery.

Are you getting enough Water in? It sounds like low blood pressure which can be due to dehydration. Try upping your water intake and adding a little salt to your diet -or drinking some Powerade Zero or G2. Were you on BP meds prior to surgery and have you continued them? Have you checked your BP lately?

My BP always has run low (even at 271 pounds I was 110/70). These days I run 80/60 with a resting heart rate in the mid 50s. If I'm not active about getting my water in, I get woozy easily. Check your BP and chat with your team, but it could just be needing more water.

I looked it up online the other day. I get plenty of fluids and I get orthostatic hypotension (it causes the dizziness when standing). Apparently it's pretty common for post wls patients.

Yes, it's from being dehydrated.

Yup, I still get that way and I'm pretty sure it's due to not getting enough Water.

Yes, it can be caused by a couple of things. Dehydration is the most common cause. Another cause can be anemia, especially Iron deficient anemia.

If you are on blood pressure meds for high pressure you may no longer need them and that could be the cause as well.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
