Hellooo!

I'm currently 13 months post op. This past year has been filled with hospital visits and 7 times under anesthesia...it's been rough. But, I've lost over 200 pounds. Yes, that's right! I started at 450...as of today I'm at 243. I still want to lose some more weight, but I know it'll take some hard work.

Anyways! Needless to say, I have a LOT of excess skin on my arms, stomach, thighs, and back . As of the last few weeks I've been getting these awful painful rashes on my thighs and under my excess skin on my stomach. It makes it so hard to move. I've been putting on baby powder to try to keep it dry, but I want to know if there's anything else I could use?

Also, any idea how far out you have to be in order to get plastic surgery? I know I'm still probably too early but I want to have something to look forward too. (And yes, I'm documenting my rashes with my PCP for insurance purposes)

Thank you!

Many of my rashes are fungal infections. You could try some otc cream or spray. I get fungal infections all summer long.

I think for skin removal surgery, it might depend on your insurance. I think my policy says I have to be at goal for 18 months. But I've read where some people with a lot of excess, get it sooner because it's really really necessary. Ive also read a lot of plastic surgeons do free consults. Does your Bariatric surgeon also do skin removals?

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
