Post surgery question

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!
I had my VSG procedure on August 10,2017. I'm feeling really good and I'm on soft/pureed foods. I've been struggling with not feeling satisfied. I've never been the one to like feeling full or stuffed after eating but I don't know what else I can do. I'm trying to increase my Water intake. Does anyone have any ideas?

I found that the sensation of being to chew is what helped me feel satisfied, so you could be lacking that, and so you may just have to tell yourself "it'll get better soon!" Another thing is making sure everything you eat is high in Protein, since protein also can help you feel more satisfied.

Popsicles were what saved my life. Popsicles and sugar free Jello. They felt like "real food". Once I was past that, I ate a lot of eggs. Since I didn't have to do anything "weird" to the eggs to make them soft/pureed, they were really good for me too.

AND OHHHHH have you tried the ricotta bake ?! Man I haven't seen anyone talk about eggface's Ricotta Bake in forever on these forums. It was my JAM on purees, it was salty and a little sweet and you had to chew it a tiny bit but not too much....

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
