Today is the one-month anniversary of my surgery and while everything has progressed as expected, it has been a tough month of change and adjustment. However, to highlight how far I've come, here are the things I can now do:

-Take my morning meds in less than 10 mins

-Sleep in any position

-Be up and about all day

-Fit into many clothes 2 sizes smaller than I started

-Eat more solid Proteins

-Sleep without acid reflux

-Donate many of my clothes that were like-new but now too-big to a relief drive for Hurricane Harvey survivors.

These are all very good things, and I have to just keep paying attention to the very good things!

Congratulations! My gastric bypass was just done Monday. This is tough! Much worse than I anticipated but hearing your progress gives me hope!

That's awesome! And while I can relate to the bittersweet feeling of giving away almost new clothes (or even clothes with the tags still on them!!), it's great to know they're going to such a good cause. [emoji3]

Hang in there! I'll be one month post op on the 10th, and trust me it gets better. The first 3-5 days I also thought it was much worse than I thought it would be, but by week 2 I was feeling pretty good.

For some of us it is a terrible time. It took me two solid months before I felt good. It was far more difficult than I anticipated. I had complications that made it tougher. Just know that it does get easier. I am four months out now and life is much easier. But during the rough times I really began to be concerned that I had made the right choice. Hang in there. It gets better.

This gives me encouragement, as I am 11 days out. Dr. said do full liquids for 2 weeks (at my one week follow up) & am looking forward to pureed. Not sure if it will be for one or two weeks before soft foods. I've noticed all Dr.'s are different. CONGRATULATIONS on all the positive areas at one month out! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
