Dense Protein for most.

But specifically as a whole what meals?

Basically, any meat I need to cut with a knife provides the most satiety and restriction.

  1. Steaks
  2. Pork chops
  3. chicken breasts

I mealprep chicken meatballs once a week in different flavors and they keep me full. I have one with little side of veg and I'm good to go. I work 2 jobs so I can't cook every single day but they chicken meatballs are the perfect portion size! I use an ice cream scooper to portion them out. [emoji1305]

I thought I'd never get to my goal weight, either. I was a slower loser. It took me nearly 18 months to lose 100 pounds. Most of my monthly losses were single digit (1 to 7 pounds a month).

I usually consume my meat with a non-starchy veggie such as green Beans, broccoli or Brussels sprouts. I usually have 4 to 6 ounces of meat with a cup of steamed veggies.

I also eat seafood such as tuna casserole, mackerel cakes, shrimp, salmon croquets, sardine fritters, catfish, trout, and blackened tilapia, but these do not challenge my sleeve enough to provide as much restriction as harder Proteins.

chicken is the food that gives me the most restriction and I have to eat it much slower than any other food. My first time eating a grilled chicken breast I threw it back up because I was eating it as quickly as the other meats I've been eating. Didn't go well. That's pretty much the only food I have to still be careful with. But once it's in my belly I'm satisfied with it.

Other foods that give me restriction:

tuna

cottage cheese

yogurt - some people say yogurt is a slider food for them, but it keeps me very full

lean cuts of meat

That makes me feel better as I've only been losing roughly 5lbs a month. I was hoping for more so it's a bit frustrating, but on the plus side my losses have been consistent and I am very satisfied with my food plan right now. At this point, I'm just happy to see the scale moving in the right direction :)

Thank you for posting this! I have been a slow loser too and struggle with it not going as quickly even though I am working SO hard at it. I hope to have a similar story when I hit 18 months.

chicken and Pork are the hardest meats for me to eat. I get super restriction from them and they hit me quickly if I eat to much.

Also eggs, I cannot eat them anymore.

The denser the meat, the heavier it sits; lean cuts of chicken and pork leave me quite satisfied. I haven't tried steak yet, but imagine it would be similar.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
