I just had surgery this morning and I am in so much pain! Please help me see the light of the end of the tunnel. I knew I would be sore but I am in so much pain. [emoji26]

Hello dear,
I am sorry to hear that. Trust me I feel your pain. I had my surgery two weeks ago, August 9th. I had sooooo much pain that I yelled at the nurses at the hospital to have so pain reliever. The first three days was hell. I know what you are going through. After 3 or 4 days you'll get better. All the best !

My nurses gave me IV pain meds around the clock the first day. Second day I was put on liquid pain medication. This managed the pain well, but the key was walking. I had to walk once every hour when I was awake. Pain was completely gone by day #5. Surgery was also 8/9....Good luck!

The pain passes, the happiness stays. You will be okay, I promise! It is painful, you just had major surgery, I couldn't get in and out of bed by myself for a week. But again it all gets so much better, this is so worth it! I'm so sorry you're in pain, and I'm so sorry that you are suffering, but it will and you will feel amazing very soon. Took me about two months to be fully back into the swing of things, but I had the vertical gastric sleeve, my gallbladder removed, and a large hiatal hernia repaired. Most people are back to themselves within 2 to 4 weeks.

My son, in his senior year of high school, blew out his knee and had surgery to repair it. The pain was immense, and the doctors and nurses were puzzled when he didn't respond to normal amounts of pain meds. A few years later, he decided to grow a beard and it grew in bright red -- this slicing the mystery (most redheads need extra pain meds because they don't respond like non - gingers.) Moral of the story -- ask for better pain management. I hope you're feeling better soon!

If you are in that much pain, then you need to talk with your doctor about what they are using for pain management. For example, the morphine pump does not work for me - I found that out on a surgery well before this one.

Not all pain medications work the same way on all people. They should be able to keep you comfortable.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
