8 Days and counting

Recommended Posts

Well, I'm 8 days away from my surgery and doing quite well on the liver reduction diet. I can't wait for the surgery, how ever I am loosing weight on the diet and my wife seems less on board now about my surgery, she asks why can't I just continue to follow this diet to loose my weight. She doesn't understand that you can't live on this diet it's to hard and once I would stop it the weight will just pile back on. Now she has me questioning my decision, help.

She needs to understand that the chances of you having long term success and keeping the weight off without surgery are very slim.
She needs to be supportive, that's bullsh*t that she is trying to talk you out of it.
I am in week 2 of the 3 week liver shrink diet and I am going crazy.

My wife and I are doing this together.
She was sleeved 8 weeks ago and I am set for 08-31-17
Hopefully you guys can convince your wives to see the long term benefits to being sleeved.
Don't they want you around?
Don't they want to extend your lives?
Or would they rather watch you eat yourselves to death?

Maybe remind her the entire process is about getting healthy and staying healthy so you can share a life together without worries about obesity related issues. Sometimes, showing somebody there is another side to the coin, another perspective, might help open her eyes to realize this is about your health/not only your body shape. Best of luck to you.

My surgery is the 28th. I'm doing well on pre op diet also, which lead my mom to ask the same questions.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
