I'm confused. I'm just asking because I haven't had my surgery yet. One another thread they were saying that the fullness feels like a phentermine feeling. When you find out please post. I want to go into this thing right. Are you saying that you could keep eating and you don't feel any different ?

From what my nutritionist told me, you should reach your goals daily. Protein 60-80 oz (women) & liquids 48 oz or more a day. I knew I felt full when I felt like gagging on the next sip.

Height: 5'0"
Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs.
Surgery date: 2/13/17
Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs).
Current weight: 140 lbs, now ready to lose 15 more past goal.
My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.

I'm the same! I don't have desire for food but I'm hungry (if that even makes sense) I'm 5 days also. I can have fluids but not sure if I'm full. I'm sick of sipping 24/7 already.

You don't feel hungry simply due to the fact your stomach is most likely still swollen.

You may want actual food or have the desire for it because your brain is still in the beginning stages of the diet after surgery.

If you begin to feel queasy, pain in the chest, or basically like food is stacking in your stomach, your full and should stop.

If you are drinking and eating at the same time, you should stop that immediately.

I dont feel anything. Just pain 24/7 in that area so I cant tell if I'm full or hungry or have reflux [emoji14] I suppose I'll get use to it

Your feeling pain? Is it from the incisions or just after eating/drinking.

You may have a lot of acid in your stomach still. I suggest taking omeprazole which is a acid blocker and will prevent acid reflux.

I think this is really challenging sometimes. I am 9 days out. Just yesterday, I got to advance from Clear Liquids only - to full liquids and Protein Drinks.

Included in that is cream of wheat Cereal (as long as it is runny), cream Soups (strained for any chunks), and greek yogurt with no fruit chunks.

At the end of my 8 days of clear liquids, I felt hungry frequently. I could quell it with some broth, but it did not feel satisfying!

Being able to feel like I am "eating" again is great. But, my weight bumped up overnight 1.2lbs - I am guessing/hoping it is because what I can eat has a higher sodium level and because it takes longer to digest the new additions.

Today, I went back to measuring and recording everything.

As of right now I am only at 446 calories. According to my plan, I am supposed to have some a Protein beverage in a couple of hours - so I will top out under 600 calories for the day. That is about where I was during the Liquid Protein pre-op diet.

I feel full, but I also feel like I am eating a lot. However, none of the food is solid. So, what would be slider foods in the future? I also think I am probably eating too fast - so I need to refocus on that.

I do have a lot more energy than I did when I was only eating clear liquids!

I do feel hungry, and the usual triggers cue hunger (food smells from other people making food in the house).

I am satisfied with a small amount of food, so my guess is that everything is OK?

I did think that I would not feel "hungry" at this point - and that is not the case for me.

So I'm 2 days post op and feeling much much much better! In my hospital in Australia we go straight from operation to puree so I'm already on custard and puree Soups and yoghurt. Still not sure when I'm full though so just going slow. Everything feels a little odd and it's hard to tell the different between hunger and reflux and needing to burp.. Very weird feeling

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
