Delayed PB?

Recommended Posts

Ok, I've had a few PBs before, and I always knew immediately that I had made a mistake. Today was different. I ate lunch (fried chicken, and not much of it). An hour and a half later I drank some orange juice. About 10 minutes after that I had to run to the bathroom, and up came the chicken and OJ.

What caused such a late PB? I thought I was safe after an hour or so?

That happened to me a number of times. What I assume happend is.....the chicken blocks the stoma that goes from the pouch to the lower stomach, then when we drink, the liquid can't go thru the stoma and it just right back up. That's how it feels to me, anyhow. :paranoid

It might have been the OJ. I have heard people say that after being banded things they used to like no longer works. Just a thought.

Sometimes that will happen to me, when I get a piece down and I did not chew it as well as I should have. I have had things come back up from the night before. Skins from anything will back me up, so I am really careful with skins.

Good luck.

Hi, it just happened to me for the first time, I was banded

9/13/07, and have had two fills. The Doctor told me to stay away from White bread. I have been able to eat just about anything in small portions. Well I went out to eat last night, had a dinner roll (White) Didn't think anything about it, I had pressure, so went to the rest room. Thought everything was OK. On the way home about 15 minutes later in the car, I thought I just had to burp, well I did, and it all came up. I believe the White bread just formed a ball, and would not let anything go down. So guess what, no more white bread for me, I know that's what was it.

Baned in Mexico by Dr. Gonzalez, very nice.

Lost 10 pounds so far, so if I lose another 10 pounds next month, It will be all worth it.

All you bander hang in there.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
