Pre-op required weightloss.... I need help please!!!

Recommended Posts

I had the band in June 2012, and started the process of band to Sleeve revision in April. In May, I had the EGD done and found out that my band has slipped. I was told that I had to lose 17 pounds before they would schedule my surgery, and I am having a REALLY hard time losing it. I'm trying.... I'm trying very hard actually, but it's just not coming off like I need it to. So far I have lost 9 1/2 pounds, and have 7 1/2 left to go. My next weigh in is the 21st, and I'm trying so hard to hit my goal so that they will schedule my surgery. I'm eating an average of 20 - 25 grams of carbs per day, and average of 1200 - 1300 calories per day, and trying to walk every day (I was just released last week from going to physical therapy twice a week for my back). ANY and ALL advice on how to hit my goal is VERY much appreciated!!

I definitely need more veggies. I haven't had any fruit, juice, bread, Pasta, or hardly even any dairy. I drink a lot of crystal light, but I do need to get more Water in. I have 3 cups of coffee in the mornings, then crystal light the rest of the day, other than a Protein Shake for lunch. This weight just doesn't want to come off... 🙁

You may have some luck by having a "splurge" day. Take 1 day and eat a bunch of sweet potatoes and Beans.

Then follow it up with a strict liquid diet for the rest of the week.

3 Protein Shakes plus a pint of low sodium v8 each day. Lots of Water (and keep your coffee).

Sometimes we just have to shock the system.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
