Recommended Posts

Less than two weeks away! Eeekkk!!

How are y'all doing? Are you surviving on your pre-op diet? How's the mental preparation going?

LOTS and LOTS of Water has kept me feeling full. One of my friends who had the sleeve told me to take advantage of the highest calorie count your doctor will allow. She kept it on the light side and said she felt so weak going in to surgery and it made the recovery harder.

I'm trying to experiment in an effort to see what I like and to keep it a little less boring. I've ordered two sample packs of Protein powders to help me figure out which one I prefer before ordering a full container. So far the Celebrate brand has been my favorite. They don't clump when you shake them and taste good mixed with water. I have Unjury too but I don't like how hard it is to shake up and it has that Protein Shake smell I don't like. I am trying their unflavored Protein Powder in Jello and pudding today. My husband uses Muscle Milk and I like their taste and consistency too.

I'm allowed some veggies so I have been roasting them to give them some extra flavor. I REALLY look forward to those each day. :-)

Also try to keep your mind busy so food is you are not obsessing about food (or the lack of). Every time i start missing food I tell my self that "Food is no longer love and life. It is simply the fuel to get me through the day".

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
