Hey everyone!

It's my first post, and it just had to be tmi.

I haven't had a bowel movement since the morning of my surgery. I can pass some gas, and I took Miralax 2 days in a row with no result. The surgeon's office seemed more concerned that I was passing gas. Did this happen to any of you? How long did it take to resolve? I stopped my pain med yesterday, so that should help.

Every time I drink liquids, my stomach hurts and I get a pain in my right side. Protein Drinks are hard to get down. Maybe I should not refrigerate them?

I tried Sugar Free Chocolate pudding the other day. It gave me cramps like I'd have to go to the bathroom, but nothing happened. Now I'm afraid to eat any more of that.

It's hard for me to walk because of spinal stenosis, so I am going to try moving through using my recumbent bike. I can sleep on my sides, bend pretty well, etc, so going gently with the bike should be okay.

Generally, I just feel pretty blah. I guess I did just have major surgery, and I've been on this liquid diet for 3 weeks. Another week to go...

From what I've read and was told, room temperature might make it easier to get down. Not everybody does this, but they said the cold sometimes causing cramping. Hopefully, somebody with experience will chime in for you. You had major surgery, it's okay to feel blah. It only gets better from here. :)

Thank you for your reply.

After 7 days, I had diarrhea (sorry tmi). I was never so happy about something so gross!

Now I have an incision infection. Go figure! Going to put neosporin on it.

Try stool softeners

Miralax worked for me, a little too well, but had taken a stool softener the day before. I'm 11 days out, and a slow walk outside (slowly increased a little each day) has helped in a lot of ways. I go on walk with someone on some days twice a day. If you can't do the walk, it's good you have the bike.

Had my surgery on 9/14, with a hernia repair. I think I am having a problem with my Protein Shakes, I might not be able to deal with milk solids. Does anyone have any idea what to do about the unbelievable gas pain I am having? Can not sleep, but I can seem to pass any stool either, just really feeling down.

I had RNY on 9/19. Took 2 days for bowels to move gas and I have no problem with that. I just have not had a movement at all. My Dr told me Milk of Magnesia so I guess Hubby will be stopping on his way home. Also, does anyone feel like they just had a baby??

I had surgery several years ago. I did lose weight but, for me, I probably would have been better off sticking to a diet. Having gas constantly, upset stomach when having one bite too much, bland foods to eat unless you want to eat antacids, no telling when you will have the runs, if eating out make sure you ask for a take home box and the list goes on. This is just my experience hope it goes better for you.

My surgeon just told me if i wanna go, take Milk of Magnesia. For maintenance, he said use Miralax. The difference is the Milk of Mag will *make* u go, whereas the Miralax's design is to pull extra Water to ur intestines/stool so its easier to pass, but wont necessarily *make* u go.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
