Today is day one of stage II post op diet. How long should I stay in this stage? The information I got from the hospital states 2-4 weeks, that is a heck of a gap!

Check with your surgeon. I only had to stay on that stage for two weeks when the book they gave me said I'd be on stage two for three months. I kept everything down that I ate in that stage and I guess that was my surgeon's determining factor, that and I heal fast. (So I was told).

I was on Clear Liquids for one week then full liquids for two weeks. Is that the stage you are referring to? Then I started soft foods for three weeks. My doctor and NUT do not have a pureed stage. Now I start on regular foods Monday the start of my seventh week.

I started with 2 days of "bariatric clear liquids" then 7 days of "bariatric full liquids" followed by 20 days of the puree foods stage.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
