I am in your exact situation. Highest weight 217. Surgery day weight 200. I had surgery a week ago and have lost about a pound a day so far. I had high blood pressure. I have been having dizzy spell's and checked my blood pressure yesterday and it was very very low. So it's helping already and I need to call my doctor today to adjust my medicine! So far I am ecstatic that I went through with this. I have a long way to go. I need to focus on soft foods which I have not done yet.

Hello,

I had surgery on Thursday. I have been reallly sick. I cannot hold anything down. Blood pressure was 176/110 and a low grade fever. ANY advice?

My doctor's instructions any fever call, or go to ER. Focus on drinking you may become easily dehydrated.

My second night I could not even keep the Tylenol down in the hospital but they still sent me home the next day. I'm not sure what my BP was at that time but I was still on BP meds. I would continue to sip liquids, as EW mentioned but if you are really worried, call the nurse just to be safe. We can offer advice based on our experience but only you and your Dr know what's best for your health. Please keep us posted. Feel better soon. 💐

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
