I don't have anyone to really talk to about my sleeve surgery. I really need support and friends. I would really really appriciate any new friends and support. I don't have much luck with my doctors office as they are really busy and communication Is My Great. I was in a car accident and had frontal lobe injury, so maybe it's just me.

We got sleeved on the same day! Hello sleeve brother or sister!

liquids are the most important thing at this stage. Sorry to hear you are having problems.

Try warm tea or broth. Sometimes warm liquids move easier.

Protein Shakes are important because you're not able to eat much and you want to shoot for 60g of Protein. Premier shakes have 30g a serving. If you can't tolerate shakes try adding flavorless Protein Powder to the foods you are able to eat (works good with broth, for instance).

You ought to be able to drink a whole shake (mine are 11 ounces). Treat shakes like a liquid (and they can count as part of your 40-64 ounces).

I got sleeved on the 10th! Anyone else? anyone know what I'm supposed to do with these bandages? I've been changing them after every shower using anti-septic wipes, gauze and tape.. but for how long?

I was sleeved on 7/12. They told me to just keep the incisions clean, but not to keep them covered with bandages after today (4 days post op).

Hi Northstar,

Hope you are having a great day so far. I would be more than happy to be one of your online buddies. There are some of the best folks anywhere on this site.

I don't have an actual surgery date yet but it should be in November sometime. I look forward to reading more of your story.

Good luck as you continue on your journey!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
