Anyone scheduled for sleeve surgery in September 2017

Wanting to know when to start anything very new to this

I am looking to start my pre-op right after Labor Day. I know this sounds bad, but I am wanting to spend time with friends Labor Day weekend having a bit fun (while really trying to watching what I eat) and kind of considering it my farewell to the food I like for a few months while in post-op. I am having a bit of a hard time with this, a very hard time even though I am psyched about having a new life. Pre-op will be hard, but I understand after a few days it gets easier. Not an excuse by any means, but I am a Kansas Boy raised with the usual country foods, meat, potatoes, gravy, home made bread, etc. Feedback?

My last nutrition visit is in September and then my paperwork is submitted for approval. I'm praying for approval so I can have surgery in September. If not September, definitely October.

September 4th!

That is suddenly very, very soooooon..

Are you starting to freak out a little? My surgery is five weeks from today, and I am already starting to feel cold feet! On the other hand, I'm also dreaming of all the things I'll be able to do differently this time next year. Heck, even six months from now!

At my job, we sometimes have casual days where everyone wears shirts from the local sports team. Everyone, except me, since I can never find any in my size. Yesterday I was at Walmart and saw the NFL sweatshirts and realized that I may very well be able to fit into one by the time winter comes!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
