It was 3 for me since I was so obese, I had other doctors tell me 4.

I was advised to do 1 week clear liquid and 1 week full liquid. It is hard.

I never realized how much food fill's ones life. I don't even mean in an addictive sense. Just planning, preparing and sharing daily meals. I miss it. There is definitely some joy missing in my life. I am trying to stay focused on the big picture. That this is a small blip on the scale of things and there will be more normalcy.

Yeah mine was 2 weeks, 1st week was Clear Liquids, which is easy because of the surgery couldn't think about eating anything, second week was full liquids (protein drinks, Jello, etc), then on to soft foods but it took me 3-weeks before I could have a tiny bite of scrambled eggs and not hurt. Loved me some hummus and cottage cheese!

I am 10 days clear liquids, 10 days full liquids, then 10 days purée, and so on. My day 1 wasn't the day of surgery though. It was the day I was released from the hospital, so really I did 2 days of iv only prior to clear liquids.

Just had surgery July 11th and started clear liquids on Wednesday and then just started Protein Shakes today. Dr said he'll probably clear me for the next step when I see him for my one week check up on Friday.

I had my surgery July 12. How are we supposed to get down a whole Protein Shake, when we're only supposed to drink 2 ounces at a time?

I'm 2 weeks clear liquids, then a period of full liquids, then purée, then soft and at like 6 weeks solid food. I forget exactly cause my directions are in CA and I'm on vacation in cape cod. UCLA has never had a pouch leak so they're pretty strict on the liquid period since the first 10 days or so you're at risk for leaking, which is an emergency. I feel like the stages after that are slightly less important and more about developing good habits before you're set free on solids.

Luckily I already drink 2-3 Protein Shakes a day as I'm an avid weight lifter.

Mine is 1-2 days Clear Liquids, then one week of full liquids, then a week of smooth/purée, and then soft foods for 6-8 weeks.

I just hope I CAN eat/drink.

Can I ask what your BMI was starting out? Or if you may be on the "smaller" side than the average bariatric patient? I'm curious because a different poster mentioned 3-4 weeks liquid because he was "so obese" and I'm wondering if that time shortens if you have a lower BMI?

This is pretty much what my Dr required (except, only a few days clear liquids, then the balance of 2 weeks on full liquids).

I had my surgery on July 6, so almost done with liquids! We're on vacation in the US all summer, so it's been hard not being able to eat all my favorite foods while visiting home!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
