July 17th Surgery! How much time off work?

Recommended Posts

I work a desk job and was back at 1.5 weeks. No issues to be concerned about at all. I just made sure to keep hydrated.

I'm scheduled for 7/11. I'm taking 2.5 weeks off. I've never had surgery, so I wanted to give myself as much time as possible to have healed and adjusted as much as possible. I figure it's best to take the time and not push myself. Also decided to start back in the middle of the week so that I'm not dealing with Monday rush or having to work a full work week just getting back.

TBH, I also don't mind the time away from the office. I'm on leave as if 5PM today! Excited to get the surgery underway!

I work from home so I only took 6 days off. I have energy for light cleaning and what not for about 15-20 min and then I rest. I had my sleeve 6/29/17 and have no pain or soreness as of today. I also drove for the first time since 6/29 yesterday.

I did go to a 4th of July party and ended up napping on the ladies couch. You do what you can do. Good luck!

Hello everyone, so I am very torn with how much recovery time I actually need. I had the lapband and was sore for 3 days, I milked it and took two weeks off. This time around I dont want to take time off I dont need ( I have kids now)- so how many days off would is appropriate? I really need and appreciate the feed back!

I met my surgeon this morning and he said to plan on three week if no complications.

Hope its enuff..if not I can always nap on my lunch break- I work from home so its pretty likely this is what will be happening lol. Thank you all for your pov/ sharing your experience and thoughts <3

I'm also scheduled for the 17th. Initially, I was told 2 weeks, maybe 3 so I've been assuming 3 (also a desk job), but I just got the FMLA paperwork yesterday and it has a return to work date of 7/30. I assume that's just preliminary based on what the surgeon's office said, but since my follow up appointment isn't scheduled until 8/1, I can't imagine I would have to go back before then. I'd think he'd have to see me before authorizing me to go back to work (and the company nurse also has to approve my return after she gets his return to work paperwork)

July 17th as well!!

I sit all day at work, so I am planning to return after one week. I talked to my boss and if I need to take some 1/2 days I will. I am very lucky to work with wonderful people!

So this just in...My surgery was pushed to August 1st, due to my white blood cell count being elevated ( acute pharyngitis)- PCP isn't able to give me clearance until my labs are perfect. So yea- this is a bit of a blessing ins disguise, by the date being pushed I get to accrue more time off work/ can take more time off. I am going to take 2 weeks off now instead of 4 days.

July 17th surgery too!
My surgeon told me if I can get a month take it ! It's a big change for my body, plus I'm on my feet all day at work. He told that first 2 weeks I'm probably going feel like napping by mid day.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
