Anybody have a problem eating fruit?

Recommended Posts

I recently tried watermelon, and did it on 3 occasions. Each time, I thought I was going to get sick and had to lie in an easy chair for a couple of hours until the nausea subsided. lso, I got the same feeling from eating raw fish (sashimi) , but for the first time since sleeved 7 months ago, I was able to put down some Hawaiian poke tuna with no side effects. Anybody have similar food problems?

Watermelon is pretty darn high in carbs. If you haven't been eating many carbs, this could have spiked and crashed your blood sugar, and thus the nausea. It could also have been dumping which some sleeve patients get from time to time. Has it ever happened with any other high carb foods?

i agree with @Navigating the Wilderness.

I've had fruit as a snack on its own a few times, and I got a little queasy about half the time. so now, I always eat fruit as part of a meal and don't have a problem anymore.

Also, are you chewing well and still eating slowly? Whenever I forget, and eat the way I used to, I feel sick for a while.

I just make smoothies, and they only contain frozen strawberries, frozen bananas, frozen blueberries, and milk. That's it. Have had this since a week after surgery and have had no issue whatsoever. It's actually rather filling. I make them very thick, rather than watery.

Curious, I thought we couldn't have fruits with seeds until like 6 weeks after. (Strawberries, blueberries)

I've only gotten this with watermelon so far. Cherries and oranges have been fine. I'm chewing well and eat slowly, usually 15-20 minutes per meal...

My tummy doesn't care for most fruits. I don't get a strong reaction, just a general discomfort. Apples, oranges, watermelon, and cherries don't feel good. Bananas and blueberries have been pretty good. Peaches are ok. Tomorrow I'll try black raspberries.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
