About how long did it take for you to start noticing swelling going down and get some relief? I'll be one week post op tomorrow, and still feel like a Macy's thanksgiving day balloon, lol. I'm trying to increase my fluids, but I don't feel like the swelling is getting any better. I know it's not unusual, this was a major surgery and will take time, just looking for a light at the end of the tunnel!

Thanks :)

For my Tummy Tuck, it took about six weeks before the swelling went down. I'm almost eleven weeks out of surgery and if I have a busy day where I'm standing a lot, I notice swelling again.

The worst of the swelling lasted 3-4 weeks. After that, it was mostly when I over did it that the swelling would come back. I'm almost 4 months post op, and swelling isn't an issue.

Give it another week or 2, and then look at swelling as your body's way of telling you to slow down!

Took months, for me. Wasn't back in pre-tt/panni clothes for a long time. Was probably 6 months before I felt NO swelling anymore.

With this swelling..........are your clothes still fitting better than before you had the surgery?? Did you go a size smaller, and how soon? Less than 2 weeks before I have my panni, and have all of these crazy thoughts in my head.

Thanks

6 months!! Sorry I missed that. Just hoping to be in smaller clothes before that. Guess that sounds pretty vain, doesn't it? Sorry, chalk it up to impatience.

Since surgery I have just been wearing baggy yoga pants, a sports bra, and loose tank tops. Well, and of course my full body Spanx compression garment, lol. I haven't even had the energy or desire to put on anything else! Probably won't attempt a pair of jeans for quite a while. I took 5 weeks off from work, but luckily when I go back I just wear scrub pants! [emoji23]

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
