so I just want to know how long would I have to wait to eat Pasta or rice? I really want sushi but I am nervous because of the rice. Also I want to be able to have Protein pasta.

Haven't had either in the past year. Hit the goal weight a couple months ago (175lbs.), just had the 1 year anniversary of the VSG. Really liked both rice and Pasta (especially sushi), not to mention bread. Giving them up wasn't easy but the pay off has been worth it.

Might want to try Sashimi, it's wrapped in seaweed instead of rice:

Sashimi -- raw slices* of fresh fish arranged on their own -- is generally left distinct from sushi, which involves rice (and takes its name from the vinegar that flavors that rice). Nigiri, on the other hand, is one of the different types of sushi, which vary most obviously by shape and construction

They are both off the table for me permanently. I just won't take up valuable stomach space, and I limit myself to 20 carbs per day anyway.

Same, 60g+ carbs per serving just seems ridiculous to me especially while trying to lose and help my liver heal. Those carbs may seem healthy but any excess just gets converted to fat anyways.

My NUT had Pasta on my plan since the soft food phase and I was allowed to reintroduce rice at 3 months. She has us keep our carbs below 100 grams so there isn't anything really off the table, but that doesn't mean you have to eat it. I've had rice maybe 2 times and had no issues with digestion or anything. I'm not really a fan of rice but my mom makes the most amazing Red Beans and Rice so I couldn't pass that up on the rare occasion she makes it.

Pasta I think maybe I have had a handful of times since surgery, but not as an entrée. So maybe I will have a couple bites of pasta salad after I eat my protein/veggies. Especially this time of year.

I also love Sushi, my plan is starting at 4 weeks to make sashimi a mainstay in my diet. You might want to try the same.

Glad to see you qualified that Pasta with protein! But I'll be honest, both the Protein pasta and rice give me a very uncomfortable feeling even 2+ years out. If you are doing a bunch of cardio during the week, the carbs in the sushi should be fine. But as a staple in your diet would be a very bad idea.

I find it odd that I used to love starchy foods before; bread, potatoes, and rice. I could live off bread and dip of almost any kind. Now I rarely ever think of them. The uncomfortable feeling has ruined those foods to me, and I am totally cool with that now.

It has Protein but also expands in the stomach. I wouldn't do it. I took a bite of a piece of Pasta and it made me very uncomfortable.

I don't plan on reintroducing rice, Pasta, or bread.

Zucchini noodles are a great sub for pasta, and I use riced cauliflower all the time. If I really want a sandwich the low carb wraps will work just fine. I haven't tried them yet post-op, but I used them a lot pre-surgery.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
