Dying for a Chia Tea Latte

Recommended Posts

My nut let us start regular coffee at 3 weeks post-op. It has been a lifesaver lol.... I quit caffine 3 weeks before my surgery, but I was happy to have it back as soon as I was able. I have had zero issues with acid reflux. I have never had heartburn in my life unless I was pregnant..lol

How did you feel after you ate the crispy bacon and fried chicken?

I honestly can't tell if you are asking a serious question or trying to be funny..

In case you are honestly curious, that wasn't me. That was some of the more pathetic members of the forum.

Sent from my phone. Please forgive brevity and spelling.

Different docs have different rules about coffee and caffeine. Mine never put any limitation as long as it didn't irritate Or cause reflux. But wanted to share this for when you are allowed! It does have the caffeine because it has tea in it but a lot lower carb/sugar/higher Protein than a traditional chai latte.

I bought the chia tea bags and have fat free milk or almond milk. I wasn't about to add any sugar. I'll call them tomorrow or text my NUT and see what she says. I was allowed coffee the day after surgery. Did I drink it....NO! I didn't try it until I hit 7 weeks post op which was last week.

Tazo makes Decaf chai teabags. It's really good - strong chai flavor.

Oh thanks! I'll look for it. I did call my surgeon and the only reason they say refrain from caffeine is because it can promote hunger. To me it seemed like prior to surgery when I drank coffee it would fill me up.

I have never heard of caffeine as a hunger stimulant. That's really strange since many "diet pills" and appetite suppressants contain caffeine.

I thought the same thing but then I thought who am I to argue, I don't have an MD behind my name. LOL.

My doctor recommended waiting 6 months for coffee.....which I did, however, a woman sleeved at the same hospital on the same day stopped and got a cup of coffee on her way to the airport after surgery and seemed to do fine. In any event, I'm enjoying my Cappuccino each morning now. I use the Fairlife Nonfat Milk with half the amount of sugar as regular non-fat milk (only 5 grams of naturally occurring sugar) and extra Protein (13 grams). It's my guilty pleasure each morning ;-)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
