Vicki, who did your surgery? Just curious. I was banded on a Monday, home on Tuesday, driving by Wed, so you should be much better today.

Welcome to bandland

It's OK Compton, everyone deals their own way. I had very little tummy pain, except for the few bumps on the way home. The Friday after my Monday surgery, I was out Christmas shopping, we all have different tolerance levels....:)

Vicki - congrats! Hope you are feeling better today. I'm counting down the days! :) I had two big things this month - surgery and taking my son to upstate NY to apply to a culinary school he wants to attend next year. The NY trip is over and now I'm just waiting for the surgery! I'm the first surgery that day and the Dr. says I should be home by 11:30.

Let us know how you are.

MtnDew - how did your surgery go?

My banding went good. I had lots of left shoulder discomfort which I knew was a possibility. I was not passing the gas they wanted so I had to stay in the hospital 2 nights and then I went home. I feel good for the most part, the discomfort I have now is where the port incision is (3"). I want to lose 90# and I am soooo ready for this adventure! Best of luck to those of you waiting for your day to come.:)

hey vcompton...I was also done by Dr. Pinnar. Are you going to go to any of the support meetings?

Hope you are feeling much better. I was actually off the hydrocodene a couple days after the surgery, although I found sleeping on my back with an ice pack helped.

PM me if you'd like to get together or if you are going to any of the meetings. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
