Graphic warning! Is it supposed to look like this?

It has been itching a lot, I know itching is a sign of healing... but it has been elevated and I can't help that the pants I wear basically rubs against it a bit.

I know the whole "Wait and call your doctor." But I have anxiety. That one was oozing on surgery day, though I was told that it is normal. I got dissolvable stitches and The purple skin glue.

This one, is on my right side. I see a dark yellow to it but I don't know if that is also normal. The one I am talking about now is the small incision.

Do they look okay?

Try not to worry it could be anything especially since your scratched then a lot. I know it's very hard but try not to scratch them. Just give them a ring and let them know what's going on. You will be fine Hun. Good vibes and positive thoughts.

The thing is, I just got off my parent's insurance so I don't have any insurance at the moment. I just sent my doctor a message with pictures I just put up. Hopefully I will hear back from him soon.

Are you self funded? I was self funded as well and all my appointments and visits with the surgeon are covered under that for up to 2 years after surgery. You might want to look at all your paperwork to check. Don't fret hun. Hopefully you will hear back from the surgeon soon. Positive vibes to you.

This should be covered as a post op procedure. I had a complication after surgery once and it was covered as post op. Call your doctor and don't worry. He will fix it.

I messaged my doctor and sent him pictures already. It is just too early in the morning for responses right now. My nephew is asleep and I don't want to risk waking him. (He is two years old.) I don't have the quietest voice when on the phone.

I found out from a nurse that the incisions look good, just drainage trapped behind it from the purple glue. Was told to give it a light squeeze to get the drainage out.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
