How long was your surgery?

Recommended Posts

I keep reading the different lengths of time the DS take during surgery. My surgery is schedule June 22. I'm trying to prepare my hubby :)

Different surgeons take different amounts of time due to their skill, hospital facilities, and a host of other factors. I would ask your surgeon directly in order to get the most accurate answer.

I have my surgery on the 28th- I found out they "blocked" 6 hours for me. I have not yet confirmed anything further the hospital is supposed to call me to confirm everything.

I asked my Dr today during my PreOp appt. He says with lapband removal it should be only 2 hours. If I still had my gallbladder too, it may be a little longer. Plus he only expects me to stay 1 night too. I know everyone is different. With different surgeons. [emoji3]

Dec 30, 2010.

I had got lost about 60 before surgery. Now sitting about 25 below that after gaining some weight due to mindless eating.

started at 370

Surgery at 310

Currently at 272.25

Since True Results shut down, my extra-large band with a little over 9.25 ccs is a mite too full and no one bothers with that anymore.

Now it is all me. Which makes of it somewhat more difficult.

Especially when it wakes me up in the wee hours of the morning because my saliva got stuck.

I am still pre-op so I can't say for sure, but my doctor told me it would take about 90 minutes for the DS. He's well-known for laparoscopic procedures, though; he's known for being very quick and skilled.

I think the hospital blocked 3 hours for me. In addition to DS, I'll have my gallbladder removed and hiatal hernia repaired. I had my pre-op appointment today at the hospital and the bariatric nurse told me that I should be in a room by 11:30 or 12:00. (Surgery is scheduled for 7:30.) In other words, who knows?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
