I don't think either of them will make you look 'sick' unless you do not nourish yourself properly. This decision is so personal to each and every one of us that it is impossible for anyone to truly tell you which is best for you. Personally, if I had a BMI of 37, I would go with the sleeve simply because it is less time one the table, but there are mitigating factors there too, like if you suffer from GERD. I chose the sleeve with a BMI of 55 and it has been so far so good.

Best of luck in your journey!

there are *far* more people who don't make it to their goal than there are those who lose too much. Besides, stopping your loss is within your control - you just start eating more calories. There may be a few people out there for whom stopping their weight loss is a problem, but boy, not many. Lots of people complain of regain or not making it to their goal.

Personally, I'd undergo a sleeve gastrectomy if I weighed 185 pounds and ultimately had less than 80 lbs to lose. Nonetheless, the decision is yours to make.

As the previous poster mentioned, most people do not lose too much weight. In fact, the majority of weight loss surgery patients never reach their goal weights.

Also, the 'lightweights' (read: those who weigh less than 200 pounds) often lose their weight in a slower and more controlled manner than much heavier people.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
