Tomorrow's the big day. Really worried because just in the past 2 days I've come down with a cold. No fever, it's basically all nasal but the postnasal drip is irritating my throat. They said to proceed as normal and they'll assess me in the morning. Hope I'm well enough for surgery! I'm certainly ready!

So today, I got a phone call from one of the nurses at my surgeon's office. She apparently had an issue with my psychologist's letter because it was kinda generic and stuck to the points they wanted them to touch on in the psychologist's letter. But when I told her that she is my regular psychologist who I have been seeing for years and will continue to see after my surgery, she was willing to accept it.

I also had a friend of mine phone me to ask if I am going to allow her to stay with me when I have my surgery. She even talked about eating hospital food with me and I told her "dude, I'm having most of my stomach removed, I'm not going to be eating anything for a while".

I'm having surgery on the 22nd in Houston too! Mine is with Dr Holder-Haynes at St Luke's. How are you doing with the liquid diet?

Thank you for posting this...we are right at the same, I had been wondering about the soreness. I have follow up with my surgeon on Friday.

My follow up isn't until the 23rd. [emoji53] Just hope I'm doing everything the right way.
Have you been hungry? I felt hungry a lot yesterday. Guess I'll call my nutritionist today.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
