Thanks for the response!

I am about 110 pounds overweight.

I am nervous about the surgery! (never had surgery)

How is the weight for you and how, and where do you get a "ticker?"

I will also be banded on October 24th....Good luck to you....I have had gall bladder surgery and my Dr.'s office said that this was much easier than that....I thought my gall bladder surgery was very easy....and not much pain at all....

This is a great site to read about what others have gone through with the LB. And good your were able to get it quickly. I'm envious of those of you who don't have to go through all of the insurance hoops to have the surgery

I would have much rather used my insurance I just didn't want to wait another 2 yrs (which is what they required)....we took out a loan for $15,000....but for what I get in return with better health it is so worth it

Godzgurl75 My sister in law did the same thing. She had a 6 month hoop-fest with her insurance co and decided to pay for it herself. She got the by-pass. My dr tells me that in some states there's little to no wait for LB. I asked her what states have no wait so I can move there LOL

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
