Hi everyone I am new to this group. I had the gastric bypass 2 years ago in June of 15. I lost a hundred pounds in 9 months and then started to get off track. Only 2 things make me sick n I feel my surgery didn't work for me. I am currently struggling with regain and wanting to lose more but also go right back to my old habits. The only habit I have not picked up back is soda.

1st I would drop the pop. It isn't very good for us at all. Anyone. Then I would try to go back to basics. Do Protein 1st always. Take your time to eating. You still have it in you to fix things. You know what worked for you when you lost your 100#'s. Also remember the WLS is a TOOL. You have to do the work. When you do all of the basics I'll bet you will be surprised at how well your tool works for you. Good Luck

I didn't read your post right, I thought you said that Pop was the only thing you had started back up. LOL Just skip that one. LOL

Can you elaborate on why you say the surgery didn't work for you? Because the challenges you've mentioned are not due to the surgery but are likely due to unresolved issues with food; your headspace, not your digestive tract. Are you seeing a counselor or have you reached out to your bariatric team for guidance?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
