Hello everyone. I really need some help and advice. I am 4 yrs post gastric bypass rny. I had no regain up until this winter. I put on 30# and I am feeling like a failure. I'm in a state of depression because I am so mad at myself. Any advice how to get back on tract would be much appreciated. I did the 5 day pouch reset several times and it never worked. For those of you that have been here what did you feel and what did you do to get back on tract.

5 day pouch reset is not going to work. It is just fad diet.

Try eating just dense Protein for a week or two. That is what should be our focus with a sleeve.

A sudden weight gain might be pointing to an underlying new condition (hypothyroidism or the like). Be sure to explore/rule out a physical cause.

If you've just let yourself go, then getting back to basics will help. Protein, nonstarchy veggies, limited carbs, Vitamins, non-caloric beverages.

Good luck!

At least I know why the pouch reset didn't work. I need to get back to just dense Protein. It's almost like I forgot what the basics are. Thank you for your advice.

My doctor is checking my thyroid. It's sad to say but I have let myself fall off the track a little. I'm going through a lot of stress as I am working full time and in college for my master degree in nursing. I stopped making me a priority. Thanks for the advice.

I totally get it. I hit 20 pound regain and felt like a failure but I couldn't get it together to reign myself in. Well, last week something clicked and I started following what I call my carb detox diet. To quell my overwhelming carb cravings I stop all carbs except from low carb veggies. I eat as much Protein as I need to curb hunger and the veggies. After a week or two I can resist carbs and then I can cut back further.

If carbs are your problem this "detox" works for me. You have a lot on your plate so be gentle on yourself. Making yourself a priority is hard for a lot of us but it sounds like you have what it takes to do it. Good luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
