Food Stuck No Discomfort How Do I Move It

Recommended Posts

It has been 3 hours since lunch. Made the mistake of having grilled chicken, too dry. I tried stretching, walking, sipping hot tea. I brought up a lot in the restaurant but nothing has been coming up the past 2 hours but nothing can go down either. Never had this problem before last so long. Is there anything I can do the unblock the blockage. No pain or discomfort but not being able to drink plain warm Water is scary. Any suggestions. Herb

chewable Papaya enzyme pills. Been stuck with trying to throw up food and sometimes there seems to have something stuck. Chew a couple of those and sip warm coffee or tea very slowly and it should move it down. I normally stay with liquids only after one of those episodes. These were recommended to me in the beginning journey for me and I keep some with me at all times. Good luck and I hope they work for you.

I tried you delete this, but can't. After posting I saw it was for lapband. It might be the same for lapband, I can't say. But I know that Water is not bad, normally with meals, but none of us are normal here....

You can drink liquid with meals, it's just that you ideally should not because the Water will fill up. If you have blockage, try some sips of water, and whatever volume of water you consume, consume that much less food for the meal

Hot tea?
Silly, but walking around with my hands up.
And lying on my left side with a heating Pad
Just my secrets after 11 years
Good luck!

There is nothing worse than being stuck for any length of time. I have learned after all these years when I do not feel the food going down, I excuse myself and go to the bathroom and put my arms in the air until I feel the food going down. If I don't feel it go down, I sit and drink liquids until I feel the food move. If it does not move, I do not eat any more and end up bringing the rest of the meal home.

I wish I had more ideas for you but it took me years to figure out what to do for me. Good luck and try to listen to your body and do what you are comfortable with.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
