lap band cookbook

Recommended Posts

I ordered this book too and really the food is not " everyday " type food I would normally eat. I guess some people eat it but its not for me.

I couldn't agree with you more! I was so excited to get the book, and upon receiving it I thought it was cool the way they had serving sizes broken down by which surgery you had and how far out from surgery you were etc ... but honestly, I haven't opened the book since! I just don't have time for all of these "gourmet" types of recipes ... and only a handful of them actually sounded good while the others were *blah!*:rolleyes

If the forum wants to put together their own cookbook, I can make it happen! :o

That would be wonderful! I don't think a nutritionist would need to oversee it, necessarily, as long as we made sure that all the submissions were either healthy or band-friendly (and maybe labeled the recipes that aren't really "every day" meals). Maybe have a few different sections, like one for tofu/vegetarian meals, one for red meat, one for chicken/turkey, one for fish, etc?

Does anybody here like Indian food? A lot of their stuff is mushy. I'm not sure about the spices.. Do we become suceptable to spices?

I am very interested in helping with recipes, eventhough I'm not banded yet,but my appt. with the nutritionist and doctor is tomorrow,so soon I'll be in bandland.

I do have different eating habits than most Americans, but if you don't mind,I'll help.

I've always wanted to try it, but haven't gotten around to it. I really don't think we become susceptible to spices. I still love spicy food just as much as I did before banding, just can't eat as much.

I've noticed since my surgery that everything is stronger tasting than before....salty stuff is saltier, sweet is sweeter, hot is hotter, etc. Has anyone else experienced this?

Did anyone watch Oprah today? Jessica Seinfeld was on there and she has written a cookbook about using vegetable purees in foods to get kids to eat more veggies. She puts them in everything from mac and cheese and chicken nuggets to brownies! And Oprah and the audience said the stuff was delicious. I'm thinking about getting the book. I don't have kids but I have DH who is just as bad about eating his veggies. LOL Plus, the recipes are low fat and healthy as well. It's called Deceptively Delicious.

This cook book is a copy cat of the one I was talking about earlier called the "Sneaky Chef" The Sneaky Chef: Hiding Healthy Foods in Kids' Favorite Meals
I was a little put off that they were acting like she 'invented" this , the sneaky chef book has been out for much longer, just because its Seinfelds wife she's getting more attention . The recipes from the Sneaky Chef are SO good, I'll stick to supporting it. ike i said was put off that they were acting like she was such a genius for thinking of it and really its a pretty good copy of the sneaky chef.

Sorry that show aggravated me a little LOL
Mindy

PS I just looked at some of the recipes from Jessica's book , they are almost identical , the "puree's" are the same as the sneaky chef"

ROFLMAO I was so aggravated watching Oprah oogle on Jessica.

I bet the woman who wrote the Sneaky Chef was FUMING, it is almost an identical copy of the book.

I honestly dont know how she can get away with it.

I guess because it is not identical.

My kids LOVE the food I make from the Sneaky Chef, My hubby does too , he hates chicken but he loves the chicken tenders I make from there.

I think there are 2 different cookbooks that y'all might be referring to. I just ordered one that's different than the one originally posted about. Does that make sense? I found 2 at Amazon.com. One is: Recipes for Life After Weight-Loss Surgery: Delicious Dishes for Nourishing the New You (Healthy Living Cookbooks) (Paperback) --This is the one I ordered and there was also: Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery: Over 140 Delicious Low-Fat High-Protein recipes to Enjoy in the Weeks, Months and Years After Surgery (Paperback)--which is the one I thought was mentioned. If y'all are talking about the 2nd one, I'll let everyone know how the recipes are in the one I ordered.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
