Did anyone receive a card to order from kid menu?

Recommended Posts

I got one post-op but haven't used it. One restaurant has grilled fish and broccoli on the kids' menu (alongside the typical kid junk food), but I realized that it's more cost-efficient to order the adult grilled fish with two full sized vegetables bc I get about three meals out of it. I got a similar card when I first got a lap band and even had it laminated. I never used that one, either. It was a strange little card that even had a diagram of a banded stomach on it. Lol [emoji23]

I never heard of this card. When I go out to eat with my fiancé, we split his plate & now going out is cheaper. LOL. I like having left overs too since I barely have time to cook.

Well no nice restaurant has a kids menu because nice restaurants do not expect children to be dining during dinner hours. If you are at an actual upscale restaurant, the portions are normal to small anyway, so unless you are under 6 months post-op needing a smaller portion is a non issue.
Only fast casual and family restaurants have kids menus.
I understand restaurant table turnover and I feel like if I enjoy and establishment and want them to be around I should support them. Margins in food are razor thin. Also even though I might not order a full tab, I still tip my server like I did. Although now at this point post-op is a non issue, I can order like a normal person.

Wow. No nice restaurant has a kid's menu? While I don't necessarily disagree with that statement, I would not have been so condescending. Your insides don't seem that attractive to me.

I didn't get one and honestly I'd rather just order a normal meal and then have leftovers for a few days. I'm not huge on cooking (trying to work on that) so leftovers are fine with me. Lol

I'm with you Jess. I order the full meal (and sometimes even an extra side of veggies) and then take most of it home. Leftovers so I don't have to cook for 2 or 3 meals are the way to go!

When I was younger and not overweight at all I used to order off the kids menu all the time because I couldn't eat a full meal and although I don't go to fast food restaurants that much if it's on the menu it can be ordered, they don't know who your ordering it for and to hell with them if they do. I simply couldn't eat an adult meal and am looking forward to never having to go to fast food ever again it does nothing healthy for you at all.

Yes, no fine dining establishment has a kids menu. That isn't to be mean or condescending that is just fact. Only on the internet is plain English condescending.

They don't expect or want children there. Some places are just for adults.

This is like getting angry because I said there is no kids menu at the strip club...

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...

I don't order from the kid's menu when I am at a casual dining restaurant. I simply order a regular size lunch or dinner entree and request a to-go box when I'm finished eating whatever I'm going to eat during that visit.

The to-go box leftover food yields, on average, an additional two more meals when I'm home.

I also concur with the statement that upscale eating establishments tend to not have separate kids' menus. You will never see kids' menus at places such as the Capital Grille or Tavern on the Green because the fine dining ambiance is diminished by crying toddlers and noisy school-aged children.

Yes, I received one at my pre-op appointment today.

However, I have never had a problem ordering off of the kid's menu in the past. Most restaurants do not seem to mind. The only exception that comes to mind as a potential problem would be a fancy high end restaurant. Even then, you could always get a to-go container or order a couple of appetizers.

Yes. I've never used it. I've found most restaurants pretty accommodating, even ordering off menu when I just want the entree and not the sides.

I did before I was released from the hospital. It's not just for food from the kids menu. It can also be used to make requests for 1/2 portions.

I haven't used it but keep it with me. I also agree with ordering appetizers. That's what I do.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
