John925 I see you had plastics within less than a year from your WLS. Did the surgeon try to convince you to wait to see if your weight stabilizes? I keep reading that you should wait at least a year or preferably up to two years to get plastics done. Also, if you don't mind my asking, but how much did it cost? And what part of the country are you from?

I lost all my excess weight really fast. I maintained for 4 months then had it done. I went to the top PS in my area. The results look even better now... I paid 14k total including one night stay for pain control in hospital

I'm getting my surgery done on September 8th. panniculectomy, Circumferential Abdominalplasty, and lower body lift. My doctor didn't have many male before and after photos. She said she doesn't work on a lot of men and then men she doesn't work on rarely consent to have their photos used.

How did your surgery go? Anything you could share with the group?

The surgery went well. Still have some swelling. It looks more like a little pouch in my stomach. Doctor seems confident it will go away. No pain really. Didn't use all my pain meds. Worst thing were these plastic strips around the incision. The caused skin irritation and some itching. My Fluid drains were slow to come out. Took 30 days before the last one was removed.

My surgery has been set for December 11th. My pre-op is on November 28th. I'll be undergoing panniculectomy with Add-On Abdominoplasty as well as the Gynecomastia. All which were approved by insurance (Anthem)

I'm a bit nervous on the recovery. Hopefully like with any surgery the sooner I can get up and moving the better off I will be. Luckily I will have 3 weeks off work to recover and my Mom will be flying out on December 9th from North Carolina to help assist with my boys (2 and 4)

Like most guys there haven't been many before/after pics. I know I will take some. Before and through out the healing to potentially share with other guys looking to have plastic surgery done

I just hope once all the healing and swelling is said and done its what I'm am envisioning. Which is no more moobs and a flat-ish stomach area.

Keep us informed bro. It's nice to hear insurance is covering it all.

The procedure went well and last about 4 hours. Dr said he removed about 10lb of excess skin. I am less then 48 hours post-op and feel pretty good. The majority of the discomfort is from the Abdominoplasty. Dr said I bled a lost even though I avoided aspirin, etc 2 week prior. I was pretty weak yesterday but sipping on good ol Protein Shakes and lost of rest have helped.

Good to hear that all went well. Ten pounds for three surgies doesn't sound like a lot but judging by other before and after pictures it's a significant difference.

How long is your expected recovery and hospital stay? Sounds like it'll be awhile before you can back to any workout routine.

I just realized all the typos in my first reply. I’ll blame the pain meds lol.

I actually came home the same day. Hard to say on the total recovery time. Everyone heals differently. The company I work for shuts down the week of Christmas and took these next 2 weeks leading up to the holiday off. That way I’ll have at least 3 weeks off before having to go back to work.

Oh and the 10 lb is technically only from 2 surgeries. There wasn’t much brest tissue that needed to be taken off. The Panny is the Tummy Tuck and the Abdominoplasty is the sewing of the Abdominal muscles back together.

How are things going, OneDollarBill? Is so hard to find guys who went through plastics to get experiences from.

I am currently 16 days post. I would like to say all has been well, but that’s not the case. The first week I was feeling pretty good. Then I started getting pain tummy area above the incision were the majority of the swelling was located. Dr checked for Fluid (via needle) and didn’t locate any. He equated the pain to the swelling going down and nerves firing back up. This went on a couple days and my right side swelling is all but gone, but the left still hurt.

Fast forward to Christmas Eve (Sunday) and I was hurting a little more. I was also getting the chills. Christmas Day I was pretty run down and tired. When I showered that afternoon before heading over to the in-laws I noticed my left side was pretty pink and I knew something was up. Luckily I has a follow up first thing Tuesday morning. The Dr again checked for fluid and this time found some. The fluid was clear which is a good sign as a full blown infection hadn’t took place. However it would have gone untreated. I got in intravenous antibiotic shot and a Rx for more antibiotics.

Its been a little more than 24 since the shot and I already feel much better. The area is less pink and some of the swelling has gone. I have another follow up appointment tomorrow morning.

On a positive note the “boob” job turned out really well and no issues other than the swelling which is still present and image will be for some time still

Good to hear it seens they found the issue. Hope it gets smoother for you from here. Keep the updates coming. I'll need a similar surgery in about 1yr, so trying to learn as much as possible through other guys' experiences, and there are so few guys who do it (or discuss it).

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
