4 weeks post op steal dealing with intense pain

Recommended Posts

Hi y'all I'm Ashley and new here. I got my sleeve about a month ago. Been following all the instructions as warranted but I'm still dealing with a good amount of pain. Still have pain in the "where my stomach was taken out" which I figured would stay around for a bit. Now I have new pain. It was so bad I went to the ER. They said I'm all clear which my dr was surprised. He thought surely he'd fine a leak. So thankful he didn't.

Anyway I guess my question is is anyone still dealing with pain?? Even a month out?? When did it finally go away??

I am 4 weeks tomorrow and have slight pain behind my big incision. At 2 weeks post-op I was still in alot of pain, so I purchased an abdominal binder. It was the best thing I could have done. I wore it during the day for about 10 days. Don't need it anyway, and I feel like I have healed. Maybe try that.

Are the surgeons in the ER you went to experienced with bariatric surgery patients? I might seek a second opinion if not. I know in our city there is one hospital's ER we're supposed to go to if we have problems post-surgery as the doctors in other ERs might not have the same expertise to catch issues unique to bariatric patients. New or worsening pain is definitely on our list of red flags. Do you have any other symptoms, for example fever, redness, or hot spots on your belly?

I'm four weeks out and have no pain at all. The worst I get is a slight tugging sensation on my big incision when I'm swimming, but even that has faded since my first swim.

I hope you get it figured out! And good for you for actually going to a doctor about it! Too many people delay seeing a doctor... :(

Thanks! I don't have any other symptoms. No nausea or Constipation etc. just the pain. Through the weekend the pain has seemed to subside but I did go straight liquid sat and softs sun and I think I'm gonna stick to soft for a while longer. I didn't get a binder but I did get a pregnancy belly band and that has helped.

Should the pain continue I'll get a second opinion for sure

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
