6 months out and completely lost

Recommended Posts

So here's my issue. I had surgery on 10/24 my weight at surgery was 259 lbs. I have gone thru stricture issues and multiple hospital stays. Now I'm coming up on my 6 month check in and weigh 213. At one point I got down to 208 lbs but since then no movement down just up. I go to the gym most days and try to eat right with the little I do eat. Especially since I still get sick most of the time and have started to experience dumping almost weekly. My drs appt in on the 25th and I'm going into this as a total failure. I'm doing a reset as of tomorrow hoping it helps but at this point I'm just so disappointed in myself and discouraged. I weigh myself 3-4 times a day which is also bad. I just want to get to my GW of 175 but I feel like I will never get there. What am I doing to myself. So depressed.

It's natural to have stalls and for weeks at a time. You should still be tracking food and calories. Look at that and see the change there. I'm 2 1/2 years out and only get an average of 1100 calories per day and 80 grams of Protein. My weight goes up and down from day to day because the amount of Water I drink. Yes u will get there just stay strong. As for dumping, the bad food make this happen so you might want to rethink what you are eating.

Weigh yourself same time same day weekly not daily. If you're dumping you're eating too much sugar. Go back to basics, Protein first 3 meals, w healthy protein based Snacks, no fluids with meals, exercise daily. It will come off... good luck and try not to obsess about the weight. Think about the health benefits and positive gains you're making.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
