Have anyone tried baby food on Pureed Diet?

Recommended Posts

I'm still pre-op but was just trying to get ideas and prepare. I saw a brand by BeechNut, it was turkey and turkey broth. IMG_1978.JPG

I used the #3 Gerber foods and really liked them. I would Water them down to Protein Shake consistency, add a little bit of low fat ranch dressing on some of them. The spaghetti and meatball, the mac and cheese and the chicken and vegetable were my favorites. The awesome thing about using the baby foods, is that it is easy and takes the worry about not blending food to a puree. Oh and the fruits were really good. I'm glad I did it that way. jake

What does your surgeon/NUT think?

My NUT actually recommended baby food as an option for pureed phase.

Out of curiosity I tried the turkey and added a little Mrs Dash and it wasn't so bad, without Mrs Dash it was very Bland.

I tried baby food and HATED it! It was such a bad flavor to me. My surgeon said I could use them but ONLY the only meat ones, not the fruits or ones with vegetables or Pasta.

I found that cooking foods in a crockpot then pureeing them in the sauce was the best option. Crockpot cooked foods are the easiest for the puréed stage because they are so soft to begin with!

Another thing I ate was low fat refried Beans with a tiny bit of shredded cheese and sour cream.

Egg salad is also a good choice.

Not sure of the nutritional value in baby food, but I would take a shake any day over that stuff. I love Mexican, so the refried Beans with a bit of mild salsa was delightful and my favorite. chicken still is a struggle for me four years after the sleeve. No matter how soft it is. Enjoy your restrictions now because it won't last forever.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
