I have turned into sleeping beauty...

Recommended Posts

I have hit three weeks out on Thursday and all I do is sleep. Any days I get 9,000 steps plus I either need a long nap that day or sleep the next day way too much, miss my fluids and meals because I'm like coma sleeping. How long does the fatigue last?

I am not sure how it is for everyone but I still 6 months out could take a nap everyday. But for me the extreme tiredness went away at about 6 weeks.

There were times I'd fall asleep with my Water cup in my hands. Sitting straight up.

I don't remember being overly fatigued I had gastric bypass 2-6 back to work ful l-time 2-27. I slept and rested for the full 2 wks that was a gift I gave myself. So now I am 8wks out feeling good. Hang in there.

I had the same issues with fatigue, especially around the 3-5 week postop mark. Lethargic as hell, and what would normally be a 30 min nap slipped into 2-3 hour naps.

I would say by about 8 weeks I was at a more stable energy level. I still have moments of sluggishness, but not quite so extreme and I can usually just bully through them.

I'm 4 weeks out and exhausted as hell. Just simple tasks like taking a shower wears me out. I sleep all the time. I can't wait to get my energy back because it's seriously keeping me from working out. Even a 10 minute walk around Target wears me out.

I never had that issue, but for me to sleep during the day means that I am sick. Hopefully it will pass for you soon.

I was like that until 5 weeks post op. Went into a coma for 10 hours at night and an hour or 2 nap in the afternoon.

Two thoughts:
1. If you are still taking pain killers they can definitely impact your energy.
2. Are you meeting your calorie goals? If you aren't eating enough you will be tired. It's not ok to eat less than you are prescribed. My nutritionist yelled at me when I went below my calorie count for a few days to "challenge myself". I won't do that again. :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
