Surgery Scheduled for July, Anyone else?

Recommended Posts

My surgery is July 10! Pre op appointment in two days. Very excited even though it is close it stills seems like it is dragging. I need to push my self to get serious about this pre op diet. It is just hard to know that I will not be able to eat certain foods.

My surgery is July 17. My last appt is July 7. My pre op diet starts July 3. I feel you about the pre op. I started a pre pre op diet to jump start me for my official pre op. Its been very helpful. I now have more confidence that I will be strong enough to endure it because my cravings are not as strong.

How are you doing on the liquid diet? My program allows for one meal a day of Protein and non-starchy veggies, which is a god-send. I've really been sticking to it and I'm proud of myself. Today I did get some major head hunger in the afternoon. I honestly felt like a cookie junkie.

I'm due in in 12th July and started my pre-op diet a few days early.

I think I'm comparatively lucky as it's all real food, albeit very low in carbs, calories and fat.

I'm finding motivation comes easily. Knowing that the pre-op diet reduces chances of complications focussed the mind for me.

8 more days here. Starting to get the calls to make sure everything is in order. It's starting to become real!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
