At 5 months you will be on a regular diet - so when you have Breakfast you have have eggs or an omlette. lunch - there's plenty of Protein at the various restaurants - so maybe some fish with a veg. dinner - same thing. If you're really concerned, pack a container of Protein Powder and a shaker bottle.

The bigger issue will be dealing with the temptation of all the sugars/sweets/carbs/pastas and alcohol. And avoiding the temptation to eat all the time, since food is always available. Make use of the fitness center and when you are in port, get lots of walking in and other exercise to offset and "slips" which might occur.

I went to Hawaii at 4 months. I had the same types of concerns. We have been avid cruisers and I have no doubt that you'll be just fine. If you are cruising Carnival or Disney...I can give you some more direct advice. If you're interested just send me a message.

This will be a breeze. Carnival ships offer a buffet breakfast with egg station, they offer everything from boiled to customized omelets. Yogurt (will not be low in sugar so be careful). lunch will be a bit trickier because when your off ship it will be like being at home, when your on, there's always the buffet which will have cottage cheese and other Proteins and veggies. dinner in the dining room on Carnival is always my favorite (Never the buffet) they offer 4 or 5 of the same proteins every night so it will be easy to find a chicken or steak (If your cleared...I'm 5 months out and still not cleared for steak) with veggies, plus a few different "specials". Since your dining staff in the dining room is the same every night, talk with them about your restrictions either before the first dinner or at the first dinner, they will keep them in mind. Most importantly...HAVE A GREAT TIME! What ports of call are you considering?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
