Does VSG really need Bariatric vitamins vs. regular chewable?

I take regular high quality soft gel Vitamin, not sold in most stores.

I think giving WLS patients Vitamins that taste like candy is counterproductive and stupid. Does any of these Drs ever think about that?!?!?

Lol. This made me laugh! 😝

I personally don't always agree when doctors say any brand is ok. only Reason i think this is because how ill i ended up after 7years of being ok i was told the same as you. but have spent last 2 years with malabsorption and being malnourished so when comes 2 Vitamins supplements or nutrition I am on the ball lol i had 2 educate myself 4 the past 2years its all i did were was 4ever in hospital. and now its my passion i ain't no doctor or a qualified nutritionist yet!! but i do work with a health product that's 100 per cent plant based an offers pure nutrition my health improved in amatter of weeks... but personally i think u should stick 2what ur taking now the B complex seems ok coz it does cover from B1 to B12 and all these are part of the main vitamins we need. Just be alert on all these shelf brands what we are told yh there ok there really good b4 buying vitamins or Multivitamins I would now always advice people check the backs. In what's in them because a pure Vitamin should not have an ingreients list.

Just few things i would Look out 4.

Most have supplement labels not Nutrition labels

GMOs may be present,

Not Bio available dosent enter blood stream immediatel so much of it is discaded in ur urine bright yellow coulour .

Not NSF certified

There maybe ingredients present that they do not have to disclose.

Can catain wheat an Gluten. And alot people have gluten free diets and would not even think 2check back of a vitamin bottal. How long sine you had ur Opp.?☺

I am 7 mo post op, I cannot take a Calcium Vitamin without being sick, and I detest the liquid calcium, it tastes like vomit to me,(sorry) I am going to look for the above chewable calciums, maybe that would work. My dr told me no on gummy vitamins, will check again.

My Surgeon explained that gummy vitamins have a higher risk of getting stuck when you're healing, and that's the last thing you want.

Other than that, get the right amounts, and you're in good shape. Both the nutritionist and the Dr. agreed that the only true advantage of the bariatric Vitamins is convenience.

I plan, while recovering for the first few months, to likely use the recommended Bariatric Vitamins then once fully healed (and a bit past that for good measure), I'll likely switch to something that has the necessary vitamins but cheaper.

They are not required but my bariatric consultant highly suggested the bariatric ones because the limits are meant specifically for people who have had bariatric surgery.

I found a calcium chewable, 2x a day, they don't taste bad at all , only 5.98 a bottle of 60. Finally, got that taken care of. Going to look for b Vitamins next, I take a multiple chewable so I get most everything else.

I use 2 flintstones chewables, and 6 citrical petites every day. That was on the approved list by my doctors at Emory Bariatrics in Atlanta.

Beyond the GMO/NSF or gluten paranoia, for "bioavailability".. chewables or liquid. Easy.

I baked a gross of (144) chocolate chip cookies for the coffee break (fika) at work. The cool part was that I managed to not eat a single one of them. Not only that but I finished with my baking by 11pm and got up at 5am for my doggie walk before work. This time it was MUCH easier to skip the cookies since I was thinking about dumping in the back of my mind. That and the damn gremlins (oops I mean  grehlins) are on vacation at the moment.
