Denied and Depressed

Recommended Posts

Finished last of all my appointments, surgery set for 4/3, plans made, Vitamins and Protein powders bought and I get a call yesterday that insurance denied surgery. I am so so so sad!!! I asked when they gave me surgery date if insurance was all set and she said she did see any problems. I was so mentally prepared and now I am lost. Dr office said they don't want to appeal since they sent all my info.

I don't think you should give up. Call your insurance and get specific denial reasons then go back to your doctor and tell.them it's not about what they want it's what you want and you want to appeal

I got my tax return on Wednesday and booked the sleeve in Mexico for April 3. Dr. Ilan at Bariatric Pal MX. I've heard great things. Insurance is out for their own best interests.

I have checked into Mexico. I just may do it!

I'm going to the OCC, March 23rd is my sleeve date. The doctors have been on Dr.Oz and Oprah, I've only heard good things. I've looked into for 2 years and once I made the decision I called and had an appointment within a month. You have to work on yourself, as you don't get counselling , but counselling it not for everyone and really dependant on her skills too.

Don't give up get your policy out read it very well if you have copy's of all your compliance requirements such as diet weigh ins etc pre op testing etc have those ready too call the insurance company ask for a decision in writing as why you were denied they should send one anyways but if you haven't gotten one ask for it drs offices can say they sent all info but at times do not so see if it's just missing or incomplete paper work and again read the policy see what the appeal process is and get started on it typically the drs office should appeal it for you at least once don't just accept it insurance company's often deny they want you to give up and go away then they don't pay out for and expensive procedure oh and if they ask you to submit any more paper work do not ever give up the only copy of anything always keep copy's for yourself and send it registered mail so they have to sign for them and you get a receipt in the mail so they can't say they never got it and always ask for the persons name with you are speaking

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
