Hello I am 3 weeks post-op and I am having a hard time eating. I feel like eating is a chore. I feel terrible after I eat. I'm still on mushy foods until my 1 month f/u appt next week. Can someone please give me some advice of how I can feel better after I eat?

Just eat very slow and small bites. I used a baby spoon to make sure I didn't eat too much at one time. Also it was hard for me at first to get used to not drinking Water with my meal. You could also try gas X. Are you on a prescribed medicine for gas and indigestion?

I do take small bites when I eat and I don't drink when I eat but sometimes after I have to take a swig just to get the food down. I am to the point I just hate eating because I don't like the way it makes me feel. My friend who had the sleeve last April told me it will get better I just have to give it time.

Are you measuring out your portions? And how long does it take you to eat a meal (even if only pureed foods)?

One thing that helps me is that I try to get up and move around for at least 5-10 minutes after eating. Seems to help things settle a bit. Even if it's doing some chores around the house I feel better when I'm on my feet rather than just sitting afterwards.

The first few weeks after post-op were more of a challenge than I expected, but each week you will see progress. Today marks 6 weeks post-op for me. I'm back to eating most foods now and as long as I take my time eating most everything agrees with me just fine. The Portion Control is a big, big thing. You will find, however, that sometimes 1/2 cup of food X will sit heavier or make you feel fuller than food Y. It's a weird phase of learning how to eat again. It does get better, don't worry.

I do measure with the cups the dr gave me. I am noticing certain food do not agree with me like dairy is not my friend. Today has been a better day. I had grits with boil egg and I didn't have any problems with that. Right now as I type this I'm eating a piece of banana and I'm not having any issues. I believe it will get better like you say I just have to give it some time. I'm just worried about going to work and trying to eat. Nobody I work with knows I have had the surgery and it's none of their business so it's going to be so hard not eating like I use to and not have so many people ask questions and I've lost 32lbs so I'm sure they will notice something.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
