what if i only lose 40lbs?

Recommended Posts

im a little nervous that i wont lose much weight, ive heard from quite a few people on here who say that they have lost a lot of weight but i dont have much confidence in myself i guess. my friend who just had the bypass 4 months ago has lost 60lbs. i just want something that will work and i wont get discouraged. i have been in the program for 1year now and know alot about the band and have only really focused on getting this done. its hard when you see bypassers lose so fast it makes you want to do it. my friend and my surgeon agree that i should get the bypass but theres a fear deep down when i think about it. i just dont want to have the band and not lose much weight, the doctor says i need to lose 140lbs but i would be on top of the world if i lost 80-100.i just need some encouragement i guess, i have been so persistant on getting the band now for along time and i want to be sure that this will work,i may be alittle doubtful now because i have a date and i've heard of people getting scared because its such a reality was you get your date.

Success in ANY weight loss surgery is dependant on the patient's willingness to modify their lifestyle.

Lap-Band is not the exception to that, and neither is RNY.

I know it is hard to envision success. I felt a little apprehensive before I did it...after all, we are all here BECAUSE we are diet FAILURES, not diet successes. I just didn't see how I could "change" considering my past history. But it can be done. You do have to focus though. I think the thing that has turned me around is that when I screw up I know I get BACK UP ON THE HORSE and get back in the program and make up for my mistake. Always before...I gave up because I knew in my heart of hearts it was fruitless in the long run. Now I know it is NOT. I wake up and I still have my TOOL...it's there to help me. I give a little and it gives a little....and it works.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
