2 week pre-op fusion shakes

Recommended Posts

Scheduled for my surgery on march 14 and on a 2 week fusion shake diet leading up to surgery. Looking for someone whose going through the same process. I find myself craving food so badly!!! It's day 5 today and I'm irritable, angry and HUNGRY! Any insight to share to make this process any smoother?

I have not started my diet but a lot of people on here have said drinking a lot of Water and adding sugar free Jello and broth as Snacks may help. My doctor is allowing me to have Water based vegetables like cucumbers.

I am sorry I could not be of better assistance. Also, have you tried being busy? I find when I am busy doing things, I no desire to eat.

I am right there with you. My surgery date is 3/16. I am on day 6 on the liquid diet. My surgeon only allows liquids for the full two weeks before surgery and for two weeks after. I am so hungry now! Today I tried some broth, and that helped a lot with the cravings for savory foods since all of the Protein Drinks I have tried are sweet. It's going to be a long 10 days until the surgery date. I wish you well as you prepare.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
